Topic of the Month

    Working Class Hero

When I was about to turn eighteen, I started freaking out. I couldn’t believe it, it was ironic really. For as long as I could remember, all I wanted was to be a legal adult. Oh all the liberties I would gain!
No more asking the older kids to buy some green at the coffee shop [...]

    About The Arcade

We must warn you right away, that this isn't going to be one of those pretty little stories dabbed in marketing perfection. It's not really anything particularly "moving", or "interesting".
It was simply the realization of being stuck in a society that prefers games of pretence over harsh realities, a generation alienated and afraid of individuality. The Us vs. Them mentality.
Stuck in the worlds Arcade being played by them, ruled by them, steered by them, invented by them.
So we decided we needed to create our own little playground, to come and play with our toys...with no verbal limitations, no forced creative-constipation, no judgment and no fear.
...we dreamt of a place in which we can swap tunes and get feedback from fellow musicians...a place we can decorate with all the paintings and photo's we like to admire..where we can share our ideas and our visions..where we can rant about whatever's on our mind....

"Great things are not accomplished by those who yield to trends and fads and popular opinion."
    - Jack Kerouac

    ....Are you ready to play?

Series

Freaks and Geeks

Although at times it seems like the most tragic of “after school special” stylie shows, like Saved by the Bell, most of the times it is almost sad how much I can relate to the likes of scenarios shown in Freaks and Geeks. It takes me back to the classic day’s of High School and [...]

Michel Willemsen

Once upon of time, there was an artist imprisoned in his tux. Under excruciating circumstances (he had the great salary and the fat car), he had to survive in the cooperative world. Playground Battles

Playground Battles
I was in the Sierra Bermeja school on what seemed to me was a typical school day. At break time I realized there were a lot of adjectives that would go with this particular day, but typical was not one of them.
The Entrance of Sierra Bermeja had big patio’s with trees [...]

Making Everyday History

One thing that has always amazed me about music and the people behind it, is this unconditional love that seems to ooze out of every pore whilst the guitar is being stroked, the drums are being beat passionatley and the voice lay bare with emotion. This is one of the reasons I feel so attracted [...]

Sex Talk

The Age Factor

Age is something that doesn’t matter, unless you’re a cheese
Billie Burke
I like cheese. Feta, mozzarella, and that crunchy nutty type that goes with really nice plum chutney. Am not so sure how much I like the older ones though, they tend to get a bit smelly, crumbly and take up a lot of space in [...]

Verbal Vomit

Stop the Parade

I went to a gay bar.
Cool, no problem, I am not a homophobic or anything like that; I mean I don’t like to see two men kissing for pure esthetic reasons;  but I decided to give it a shot.  After all, all my girlfriends kept on rambling about how gay guys really know how to [...]

Thought Trigger

The Music Machine

.
“The music business is a cruel and shallow money trench,
a long plastic hallway where thieves and pimps run free,
and good men die like dogs. There’s also a negative side.”
- Hunter S. Thompson
.
With so many diverse and original types of music out there why is it that pop is the only thing you hear on TV [...]
